Motus, South Africa’s leading automotive group, has committed R5 million to assist in the relief and restoration efforts in KwaZulu-Natal. The commitment will see a R2 million contribution made to The Solidarity Fund and a R3 million contribution to Gift of the Givers. The funds have been earmarked for food and medical relief.
Osman Arbee, CEO of Motus, commented: “The recent events that unfolded in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng further tested our resilience and resolve as a country. However, the nation was quick to look beyond these acts of lawlessness and rather reaffirm the bonds that hold us together. We stood our ground, upheld the rule of law and reaffirmed our spirit of ubuntu.”
Motus has 4500 colleagues in KwaZulu-Natal. In the first instance, the Group prioritised their and their immediate family’s safety and wellbeing. Motus continues to monitor the situation closely in the province. However, it is now focussed on restarting operations for its customers and ensuring stability is restored.
